Dentists

Fraser Hendrie
Fraser HendrieBDS (Glasg.) MFGDP (UK) - GDC Reg. 70476

Fraser is one of the practice owners and has practiced at Craigentinny for 27 years. He has  particular interests in the relationship between whole body health and dental health, minimally invasive cosmetic dental care and dental implants. Outside his  work schedule Fraser spends a lot of time acting as an unpaid taxi driver to his 2 children and squeezes in some mountain biking and kite surfing when time allows.

John Booth
John BoothBDS (Edin.) MFGDP(UK) - GDC Reg. 63328

John is the other owner of Craigentinny Dental Care, having worked here since we first opened 30 years ago. He particularly enjoys the satisfaction that comes from looking after  many generations of the same family. Johns main dental  interests  lie in family dental care, minimally invasive techniques  and short term orthodontics. John lives outside Edinburgh and in his spare time is a keen road cyclist.

Callum Ward
Callum WardBDS (Glasg.) - GDC Reg. 257968

Callum  has been with the Craigentinny team for the last 6 years. He enjoys all aspects of preventive and restorative dentistry and recently completed  a year long course in dental implants. Outside work Callum is a keen golfer and can in the summer months also be found on the tennis court of an evening

Nadir KhanBDS FDS RCP Glasg., FFD RCS Irel. GDC Reg. 61209
Nadir is a specialist in Oral Surgery and provides support for the more complex surgical cases in the practice as well as the surgical aspect of our wide range of implant treatments. He holds a part time position at the Borders General Hospital and ran his own Specialist Implant clinic in England for more than 10 years
Joanne CubitBDS (Dund.) MFDS - GDC Reg. 264057

Joanne joined the team in 2020 and works hard to make your visit as relaxed as possible. She has a love for continual professional development having undertaken implant restoration, composite bonding and short-term orthodontics courses. Out of work she likes to keep healthy and active with cycling, paddle boarding and walking.

Odhran McNicholl BDS Cardiff University GDC No. 301807
Odhran joined the team in summer 2023. Odhran has particular interest in preventive dentistry as well as minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. Outside dentistry he is a keen sportsman with regularly tackling distance runs and playing rugby.
Jennifer Paterson BDS (Glasg) GDC Reg. 283136

Jennifer, joined the team of dentists at  Craigentinny in 2022. She enjoys  helping her patients achieve optimal oral health with a focus on  preventive dentistry.  She has a  particular interest in helping patients who are anxious overcome their dental fears. Outside of work, Jennifer  enjoys Latin dance classes, basketball, as well as hiking in the highlands when the Scottish weather permits.

Our Hygiene / Therapy Team

Jill Bourke – Dip. Dent. Hygiene RCS Edin GDC No. 5958

Jill started work as a dental nurse in 1994 and came to work at Craigentinny in 1995 passing her national certificate in 1996 and OHE certificate in 1997.

After qualifying with a diploma in dental hygiene in 2001 from the Royal Collage of Surgeons, Jill worked in Surrey in private practice for 7 years and returned to Edinburgh after the arrival of her son where she worked in Edinburgh’s west end before rejoining Craigentinny as a hygienist in 2007. With a long career at Craigentinny, first as a nurse and now as a hygienist Jill has known the team and the patients there for many years.  Jill has a keen interest in facial aesthetics and provides these treatments for our patients at Craigentinny.

In her spare time Jill enjoys running and cold water swimming as well as spending time with her husband and son.

Marieanne Brady -Dip. Dent. Hygiene  GDC No. 6616

Marieanne  graduated from  Dundee University in 2005 she has  been working in both private and NHS practices since then. In her  spare time she enjoys  going to see live music, hillwalking and baking. She is interested in all areas of prevention and is qualified to provide the full range of hygiene treatments.

Devanshi Juneja BDS  – CCS University  MPH Edinburgh University  GDC No. 315358

Devanshi  joined  the practice in 2024   after compeleting a Masters Degree in Public Health at Edinburgh iniversity adn working locally in another private practice. As a dental therapist she can provide both treatment for periodontal disease and and a full range of restorative treatments.

Our team offer a full range of treatments including  the more modern approach to gum health maintenance Guided Biofilm Therapy.  Our hygiene team only use  genuine EMS Airflow technology  that reduces sensitivity and increases patient comfort. A full range of preventative services are available on prescription from a dentist including fissure sealants, fluoride applications and dietary analysis.  Our hygienists are also skillful at removing stains and tartar from teeth to create that healthy just been polished feeling. Alison ,Jill and Marieanne hold additional qualifications in Impression taking and Local Anaesthesia.

Nurses

Dental Nurse Manager Danielle Wallace Seaton has been a part of the practice for many years and is responsible for co-ordinating and organising our nursing team as well as supporting the surgical aspects of implant placement at the practice
Senior Dental Nurse Maureen Preston has been a team member at the practice for many years and is a qualified Dental Radiographer and part of our sedation and implant nursing teams.

Joanna Kukowska – is the lead nurse for  our implant and oral surgery team working clsoely with Nadir Khan our Specialist Surgeon.She is also a qualifided dental radiographer.
Dental Nurse Suzanne Donaldson also has radiography qualifications and is part of our sedation team and has been caring for Craigentinny patients for some years.
Dental Nurses Jack Moffat, Krystal Fragkou,  are registered and qualified dental nurses and qualifies to take x rays as well, they are a key part of delivering great preventive dentistry at Craigentinny every day.

Dental  Nurses Casey Flett has recently qualified and  Tiana Shala is close to finishing of her Dental Nurse Training.

Our clinical team are registered and operate within the guidelines set out by the dental professions regulatory body the General Dental Council.

Dentist Biographies

John Booth  – private dentist in Edinburgh
John studied and qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 1988. He is one of the principal dentists at Craigentinny Dental Care in Edinburgh near Portobello. He has a reputation for consistent, high quality work and enjoys caring for patients who travel to see him from many corners of Scotland and the UK. He has been admitted to the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners by examination, this is an additional qualification that marks out a certain standard of achievement in the care of his patients. John has particular interests in preventative dentistry, cosmetic dental care, 6 month smiles and short term orthodontics plus family dental care.  John has lectured in infection control and been involved  in the vocational training programme helping younger dentists on their career pathway to general dental practice on many occasions.
John is the longest serving dentist on the team, having cared for patients of the Craigentinny Dental Practice since the practice opened  25 years ago. Being one of the Practice Owners, he has made a long-term commitment to the practice so that he will be available to provide dental care for the benefit of his patients long into the future. Over the years John’s travels have exposed him to training and tuition from leading experts in many fields of dentistry as far apart as London, Perth and Miami.
John is married with three children and lives just outside Edinburgh. He enjoys squash, and cycling among other sports.

Fraser Hendrie – private dentist in Edinburgh
Fraser is a Glasgow graduate with 25  years of experience.   He is the other principal dentist at Craigentinny Dental Care in Edinburgh. He has a reputation for consistent, high quality work and a love of innovation. Many of Dr Hendrie’s patients travel from the far reaches of Scotland, the UK and beyond. So wherever you live from Portobello, Edinburgh to further afield he will be pleased to meet you. He is a member of the Student Clinicians of the American Dental Association, British Dental Association, the Association of Dental Implantology, and has studied at the Pankey Institute in Miami on several occasions. Fraser has particular interests in Dental Implantology, Preventive dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry and Digital Dentistry.  Fraser has also been admitted to the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners by examination. Fraser is married with two young children and lives in Edinburgh. In his free time he enjoys  cycling, and kite-surfing.

Callum Ward  BDS – provides NHS and Private Dental Care

Callum is a professional, approachable dentist who offers a combination of NHS and private treatments.  Originally from Edinburgh Callum studied at Glasgow University where he developed a particular interest in endodontics, pediatrics and restorative dentistry.  He is conscientious and reliable and especially motivated help anyone with dental anxiety.  Outside of work Callum’s interests include golf, tennis and art.

Miriam Figge BDS provides NHS and Private Dental Care

Miriam qualified from Dundee Dental School with an additional degree in Biochemistry. She particularly enjoys working with anxious patients, preventative dentistry and restorative dentistry. Miriam has a keen interest in research that helps to create evidence that  supports best practice and is active in clinical research.  Miriam   is a competitive fencer and enthusiastic hill walker. With what little free time she has left she enjoys cooking and visiting her family in Germany.
